is a pencil drawing series through which I tell stories about my youth in a fairy-tale screen. As one could guess by the word ‘Fearytale’, which is a combination of ‘Fairytale’ and ‘Feary’, it doesn’t just reveal my happy memories of my youth. I draw what I experienced when I was little, such as the trauma of witnessing somebody’s death, individual psychological conflicts, family stories, fantasies coming from fairy-tale imagination and realistic confusion, and admiration for masculinity, like scenes of black humor, by using a pencil. The reason I chose a pencil is that the moderate colors and delicate descriptions expressed by pencil gave me the pleasure of getting immersed in my work, and that the black and white screen made me attracted by its profound feeling. The periodic melancholy situations and emotional highs and lows are expressed with fantastic directions in scenes of fairytales, and the screens consist of symbolic figures representing the reality to give dreamlike and fantastic feelings.

“A’s father’s nickname is ‘a dancing bear’. When A was hanging on his back, he carried her on his shoulders, and when A was hanging on his legs, he played with her on his legs and fed her sweet cake. To A, he was the world itself and a huge friend. And I sometime saw A’s father dancing with A through the window. But it was so strange. A trembled with fear when she saw people dancing.”
